The Bourget's Simulation Show 2008

From the 28th to the 30th of November, the accessories of Tarmac Aces was tested by many Simmers during the third Bourget's Simulation Show. We’d like to thank the CheckSix! Team who welcomed us on their booth.

Here’s what they had to say about our product :

Julien M., Modjuju :

« Since Tarmac exists I was dreaming of putting my hands on this Holy Grail (of joysticks). Today the first part of my wish is granted and this goes beyond my wildest imagining to say the least. The precision I would even say the fineness is overwhelming, the fully natural positioning and moves allow cumulating efficiency and immersion in what seems to be a wild simulation dream. The trap has now closed on me…I should not have touched it! An extraordinary peripheral which could only exist because of your passion. My very deep thanks for your welcome and see you soon anyway! »

Grégory L., PBO_Foxy :

« I got the opportunity today to test the KG13 (stick) of TARMAC ACES as well as the pantograph pedals and the throttle. Never did I feel this way with a PC joystick. Being a real life pilot I would compare the feeling with the one given by a YAK52. The adaptation is immediate and the handling is intuitive. One can operate with a displacement very close to the real thing. So much that I think it qualifies as a major evolution in the simulation world, no different from when TV got from Black and White to Color. Kudos to the team because I think I will soon exchange my C….for this monster… »

EFG_Kaidoo :

« Great feeling. Very good displacement. No dead zone. Pedals : good general impression. No centering. I will buy soon, but a Spitfire model when it is out. Thanks. »

François Stick R. :

« Very pleasant flight controls. Excellent feeling with the KG. Magnificent job! Thanks for letting me try it… PS: hard and harder, after one year away! »

Olivier Krasno L. :

« Impressively realistic and accurate joystick. The stick is very homogeneous without neutral zone, centering point or other unpleasantness. The trigger is a real marvel. As for the pedals…just perfect! »

FAFG_Joe Likker :

« A bit difficult at first the handling becomes then rather nice. The big difference is in the stick displacement. Impressively realistic device. Great stuff »

UF_Shoki :

« Very good feeling, nice material. And the immersion…OK I am discovering how to use Track IR, it is a little bit unsettling but the stick together with the throttle and the pedals make a rather excellent package. And what welcome it was!! Thanks a lot. »

UF_BATMAN :

« Really nice stick. A bit unsettled by the Track IR, I am not used to it at all. Thanks for the welcome! It is really a pleasure to find Il2 here. »

C.G. :

« This is dream stuff: feeling and realism beyond comparison! Passion for passionate people from passionate people. Keep up the good work. Thanks for the welcome! »

Cactus :

« Incredible sensations! This is quite a change from the S…. (stick)!! No doubt I will contact you again to purchase it! Just a matter of finding the budget for it. Superb job! Kudos and thanks. »

I. :

« Hoping for a long life to Tarmac Aces in their search for perfection! »

A. C. :

« Very nice experience! Many thanks to Tarmac Aces for that. »

J T :

« Very very fun indeed! I am rediscovering IL2. At long least a simulation you can “fly”. It is really possible to fine-tune figures. A real stick at least! I want one those! …Thank ! »

C. :

« Thanks for sharing your passion with us! Flight controls are very realistic. I have now a 20 year long career as jockey for heavies (Transall and Airbus) and I rediscover with your simulator the feeling of flying and the pleasure one must have flying a warbird. Kudos for your passion.! »

K. :

« Out-of-ordinary sensations ! One does not play anymore, one simulates with a passion. The only flaw the pricing…no concession here to make it brief. Thanks to you. »

CK_SmilingCow :

« Pro material for an amateur. The pedals are an absolute success. Thanks to Trollbug and Tarmac. »

G.L. Dimebug :

« I really loved ultimate detail level but also the tactile feeling no other joystick on the market equals. Obviously you have quite something else than a plastic bit in your hands. The other feature it is of course the stick displacement. The feeling around neutral brings to mind the one of a real stick and the displacement allows a tremendous accuracy of execution after some minutes of getting used to it. The pedals are no leftovers either they are simply gigantic. Fortunately you can still use it even without flight boots ;-) Once again the feeling is very good far beyond the pedals we are used to see in a gamer flight simulation. »

Raoul Volfoni :

« Eh, except for the loss of perception due to the lack of neutral point on the pedals and the stick, all this is an absolute joy...large displacement, control accuracy, stiffness as well, all what is making the installed material endeavoring… So, it’s impressive to the highest degree…high accuracy stuff, evidently very pleasant to master…and the vendor is so glamourous^^ »

The Bourget's Simulation Show 2007

The Tarmac Aces universal base equipped with its KG13 replica was tested by many simmers over three days at the Bourget's Simulation Show in the CheckSix! booth (big thanks to the CheckSix! Team for its support).

Here’s what they had to say about our product :

Dragon :

« Using this stick is paradise on earth! An unprecedented smoothness because of the Hall sensors, with a hundred times better resolution than the ones on the modified Cougars. There is even the same displacement as the original stick, and this with a similar level of precision ...
The flying is utterly smooth, there is no return to center, and you have to keep the stick in hand at all times. The stick makes shooting devilishly accurate and formation flying has never been so precise. »

FAFG_Phil :

« What to say? It is extremely accurate, wonderful sensations, real good indeed.
The realistic stick displacement allows you to fly with your arm, not just with the wrist like with a “classic” joystick and for the around neutral corrections it is really great.
The look and feel is superb (the Germans did know a bit about ergonomics) »

C6_Martel :

« I can confirm it, that’s real nice heavy-duty stuff ... »

BR44_MikMak :

« What to say…except the the modded Cougar sticks can just go to back to their boxes —flying with the KG-13 is nothing short of extraordinary. At long last we have the displacement of a real long stick…The accuracy is unreal, the unit gives you a feeling of solidity, it’s like you would have a bit of a Focke-Wulf in your hand! And the trigger goes up to a safety position like on the real thing…It’s great! »

Mannikou :

« That’s big, heavy stuff — a rare thing. It’s just beyond enjoyment to grasp this stick, it is a real accomplishment. I do not even dare to imagine the Il-2 or the Spitfire stick replica…You just feel like a real pilot all of a sudden... »

C6_Barda :

« Ok, I’ll give you my opinion:
First, the appearance: darn, hey yes, it’s really a replica, not a look-alike…Tigrou told it, when you fly the FW-190 in the game, if you lower your head you could see the same stick move the same way, except that the in-game stick looks cheap ...
The grasp, the grip, the switches tactile feeling, the displacement…this is definitely not some cheap look-alikeSo now we’ve played around with the thing a bit, it’s time to launch a mission…And then…Everything changes!...There is one single word for me: “silkiness”. Accurate yet smooth, almost impossible to express in words. The best part was a nice exercise of defensive scissors at low altitude (I mean, at very low altitude!), and that was an absolute joy. The increase in displacement allows for total control of the kite, and this almost becomes a fitness exercise, with this incredible feeling of control and precision always present. »

The control stick of Tarmac Aces was also tested by users of Flight Simulator, Lock On, Condor, SFP1, CFS.
